CarePacks Provide Hope and Help
for Orphans and Needy Children in Poverty-Stricken Places
Across the country school is in session and our children and grandchildren have desks and lockers fully stocked with school supplies—everything they’ll need to succeed as students. American children aren’t unique – all kids need basic supplies for school like pens, paper, pencils, crayons, backpacks, and more; however, for orphans and poor children in many poverty-stricken countries writing paper and pencils or pens are a luxury beyond reach. Thankfully you can help by putting together simple packages of school supplies—we call them CarePacks! Each CarePack becomes a tangible expression of the love of Christ and love sent from you as you include a brief letter of greetings and a photo of you or your family. CarePacks are delivered by volunteers on Global Aid Network short-term mission trips who share the life changing message of Jesus Christ with each CarePack recipient.
Can a simple gift of school supplies make an eternal impact around the world?
When it is a CarePack, the answer is yes! First, in places where Global Aid Network can offer CarePacks of supplies and gifts to children in orphanages, schools, shelters for children, and in hospitals, etc., it invariably helps to open the doors for further ministry opportunities. Often long-term relationships between a local church and an orphanage or school, etc. are established making it possible for the local church or our mission teams to visit and personally share the gospel message and show Christ’s love. Second, while items like pencils, pens, crayons, and pads of paper are abundantly available as standard issue in schools across North America, millions of destitute children around the world have no access to basic items like these—often these items are unaffordable or completely unavailable and greatly needed.
Thousands of CarePacks are needed every year as a gift and an outreach tool to go to orphans and schoolchildren in impoverished places like Belarus, Central Asia, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Western Russia, Siberia, Uganda, Ukraine, Zimbabwe, and many others. Will you join us in preparing and sending these gifts of love to them?
Creating CarePacks—A Fun, Family Project!
Creating a CarePack can become a family affair, teaching children the value of sharing the gospel. During a shopping trip, you and/or your children can pick out extra items specifically for the orphaned children who will receive the CarePacks. And when the package is ready to be sent, the family can come together to pack it and pray for the child who will eventually receive the CarePack.
To each CarePack we will add a gospel bead bracelet with a printed explanation, and books like a translated copy of a children’s Bible storybook or a book such as Josh McDowell’s More Than a Carpenter with the Gospel of John. CarePacks will be personally delivered by our local partner ministries and missionaries or by our Christian outreach teams who will also share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the children and teachers or adult caregivers overseas.
What do I put in a CarePack and where do I send it?
Click here for a supply list to use to shop for the materials you’ll include in the CarePack, paying special attention to the quantities and sizes. Make sure to include a picture of yourself or your family, along with a brief letter to minister to the child. After all the items are assembled, enclose them in a 1 or 2-gallon “zip-lock” bag, include a $5 donation to help with delivery overseas, and send it to our Pennsylvania Warehouse: 1506 Quarry Road, Mt Joy, PA 17552.
Better yet, bring the package to Lancaster County yourself, and be a part of processing your CarePack along with thousands of other gifts and humanitarian aid items to be sent around the world. Our next preparation project will be held from June 16-21, 2008 in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania – simply click here to register. We now need and accept CarePacks year-round.
If you cannot attend the warehouse project, please send your CarePack to: Global Aid Network Warehouse, Attention: CarePacks, 1506 Quarry Road, Mt. Joy, PA 17552.
Organize a group CarePack Collection:
In addition to sending CarePacks yourself, would you prayerfully consider going one step further to let others know about this need—perhaps Sunday School classes, an AWANA group, a Christian School, or your entire church, etc.? To the side of this article, you’ll find links to bulletin inserts, brochures, and more that you can pass on to others who have a heart to help children around the world. By partnering together, we can introduce hundreds of thousands of children to Jesus Christ.
Matthew 19:14, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

Reach an Entire Orphanage!
The orphanages we visit on Global Aid Network mission projects have anywhere from 50 to 500 children in them. With help from your family, church, or school, you could reach an entire orphanage with gifts of love!
