Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. It has been plagued by numerous disasters, civil unrest, and spiritual darkness for many years. The earthquake in January, 2010, has opened the door for a renewed spiritual awakening and establishment of life changing opportunities for the people of Haiti.
Your help is needed to continue to bring healing and restoration to this country. You and your team will have the opportunity to help meet the physical needs of the Haitians through vision clinics and construction projects in order to help transform the community of Chambrun. Come with a heart to serve and help make an internal difference in the lives around you, and do not be surprised if your life is changed in the process.
This trip is not for the faint of heart. The weather in Haiti will include very warm temperatures and high humidity. However, the team will stay in air-conditioned dorm style sleeping quarters. The team will run a vision clinic but no medical experience is necessary. Team members need to be flexible and able to adapt to a changing environment.
Ages 13 years and older are welcomed. Ages 13-17 are required to have a guardian.
The team will fly into Port-Au-Prince and then travel approximately 13 miles outside of the capital to the city of Chambrun to minister to the local churches and schools in the area. They will have a full construction team as well as a vision clinic (no medical experience is necessary as training will be provided on the mission field). The team will also help train local Haitian women in hand sewing and quilting to provide them with a skill to earn an income.
Accommodations:
The team will stay at the Nehemiah Vision Ministry (N.V.M) facility, which includes air-conditioned dorm style quarters, a family style dining hall, restrooms with full showers and filtered drinking water. The N.V.M facility is very safe and is gated and guarded. The N.V.M facility, which can house 150 people, has a 1,000 member church and small clinic inside the compound gates.
