HORN OF AFRICA FAMINE RESPONSE
The worst drought in 60 years has resulted in an extreme famine in the Horn of Africa, leaving 12 million people in need of food and additional aid just to survive. The Horn of Africa is made up of 5 countries where millions are fleeing to refugee camps in hopes of receiving food, water, and shelter. Thousands of families have traveled for days across scorched scrubland with barefoot children, traveling without food and water after their crops and livestock have been destroyed by drought. The United Nations and other agencies have declared a Phase 5, “Famine/Humanitarian Catastrophe”.
Already,Global Aid Network® (GAiN®) has seen God’s provision in the midst of this crisis, but hundreds of thousands more need help.
Global Aid Network’s goal over the next twelve months is to provide 34 containers—or their equivalent of food and aid to be purchased in country—to the Horn of Africa. This includes 24 containers of life-saving food and 10 containers of other relief supplies such as medical supplies, tarps for IDP camps, water filters, blankets, and clothing.
In order to help save lives, we need YOU. We are ready to continue responding to the crisis, but we need help to ship the containers of supplies. Help us save lives. Click here to make a difference.
