Palmer and Sharon Pisle have hearts for those in need around the world. Though their full time job is running their east coast bed and breakfast, the Pisles have chosen to volunteer their spare time to help meet needs around the world through the
Global Aid Network^® (GAiN^®) Advocate Program.

The Pisles first became involved with Global Aid Network in 2009, when they volunteered their time and talents in a unique way and made their first trip to Uganda with a Global Aid Network mission team. In Uganda, the Pisles helped to distribute water filters and to teach hygiene and sanitation classes in a small village. This past year, they returned to Uganda to follow up with the people of the community.

Dave Kenaga, the director of the water program at Global Aid Network understands that “In order to be effective in most communities, you must establish a relationship. This takes time.” He believes that the Pisles were able to connect in this village because after the team left in 2009, they stayed behind to help set up a test group in Uganda for the water program.  During this time they built relationships in the communities and learned some of the cultural nuances that helped to make the program more effective. 

As Advocates with Global Aid Network, the Pisles embarked on their most recent visit last fall. During this trip they were able to conduct follow up to evaluate how the filters were being used and were also able to see how the presentation of the Gospel, made during the initial distribution in 2009, has affected lives in this small community.

The impact Palmer and Sharon have had in Uganda—both in distributing clean water and also conducting follow up with the community—is priceless. With partners like the Pisles, who take ownership, have the initiative to lead and have a vision for transforming a community, Global Aid Network is able to reach even more of the world with both physical aid and Spiritual truth.
